Why bother to listen or think
I’ll stay on the brink
treat all as a jest

my gamble and bet
that I need not pay heed …"

Sitting on the fence means we can see both sides.....I liked this poem

Sitting on the fence is often the best way Rhiannon. Even if we have opinions that are from one side of the fence or the other it's sometimes best to keep quiet about it.

This is a nice poem to read. I enjoyed it.

True, especially when issues are uncertain or contentious, and easy to get ignorantly worked up about.

But there are some issues that it is important to listen and think through, and move the right way. Rhiannon

I know what you mean, it is frustrating when someone doesn't have any opinion about something I think about a lot, on the other hand, having come to live somewhere where it matters to some people if you are Catholic or not, or Celtic or Rangers, I am glad not to have the intensity of being included and necessarily excluded, even if it means never really belonging. I admire people who wear their faith lightly, but show it with their kindness, and fans who are passionate but not angry or despising those of other teams

Some people may disagree with you over something, but not feel able to get their arguments straight or presemt them helpfuilly. There are some arbitary fan-clubs where one would just offend one group or the other unnecessarily! Of course, to me, what troubles me is the tendency to want to sit on the fence and not investigate the historic divine Saviour, but yes, I would want to show it with kindness and ceratinly not want to badger anyone into faith! Very thought provoking poem. As one who tries very hard to avoid conflict, I probably am guilty of sitting on the fence at times.

The comments coming in about this have been quite stimulating to thought! 

There is too much hasty jumping on the bandwagon without real thought or conviciont these days. 'Shooting from the hip' without reading issues properly, and so 'sitting on the fence ' can be wise and admitting we can't see for sure the right of a situation, or realise that the issue is more complex than many would like to claim.

But, some issues do need thikning about and making a decision about, the greatest being the call of Christ, obviously! Rhiannon
