You learn about the sunshine

First you learn about the sunshine
Long, blue sky days
Beneath the boughs of trees
Leaves flickering, lambent
The sun is ever loyal
It burns in stinging strokes
How soon you are a slave
To light and dark
Then you learn about the wind
The sharp air on your face
Change comes fast
All your blossoms blown away
Hold on for dear life
For there is always
Something to uncover
And so much to lose
You’ll learn about the rain
And the great sadness
You must feel, if you
Are to grow tall
The bright colours
Of youth washed away
But water has a memory
The truth is in the clouds
When you’re old enough
To stay up late
You’ll see the stars
A voice says, make a wish
It’s dangerous to look up
And what you think you want
Is safely out of reach
Light years away
The silence of the moon
Beneath your flesh
How it pulls and tugs
Slowly you will lose yourself
Be ebbed away by its
Soft glow promise
There are no real choices
Suffering will bind you
