Like September Rain

Words begin to pour into my open
mind; like the glorious rain falling
in spates of expectation; then as
silent murky billows devour sky,
my eyes too become bleary;
clouding thoughts,
so I drift off, dream of fragrances
that gather along stony paths,
lavender – rosemary and sage;
treasures that once were hidden,
now commune.
Within sleep and waking hours; my
enthusiasm for writing thoughts once
more returns, and as earth soaks up
showers...drops streaming down my
window pane, I find joy in visions;
my head in the clouds, absorbing
effects of outpouring,
as phrases flutter like butterflies,
pen tripping the light fantastic across
paper; certainly contrast to heatwave
that settled in endless overbearing sun,
now I'm immersed – expressing myself
like September rain.
