January (northern hemisphere)

So much bleak and weak and waiting,
so much dark and stark, deflating,
but see some glints of mornings bright
- transient
and spears of snowdrops point
through, strident,
so soon will come
a colourful time,
a warmer clime.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
this was such a special poem of hope as the New Year begins.

Good! Makes me think of Narnia
Good! Makes me think of Narnia, "when Aslan bares his teeth winter meets it's death!
By the way in England how long are the days, in Winter? Summer? You must have a big difference there. .. . Tom Brown

That's quite a long summer's day
That's quite a long summer's day and a short winter's. I'm here at about 14 and shortest about 10 hours. A lot more comfortable.
If you go North the days must get very long they talk of the land of the midnight sun and the arctic circle. It's better not having these kinds of extremes.
Daylight saving does sound like a very practical arrangement.
All the best, Tom

"...and spears of snowdrops
"...and spears of snowdrops point..." A salient contrast of winter moving to spring. From the icy depths to the warmth of hope, succinctly captured in your poem. Paul
