STILL LIFE
Caravaggio painted a basket of fruit
fresh and delicious, damp with dew.
Goya chose a plate of fish, sin dish.
Vincent’s wax like fruit in thick brush
strokes hardly sparks an appetite.
Monet’s oysters; fresh as sea breeze.
Paul Gaugain cheers up with three
supping puppies on a fruit laden table.
Cézanne’s basket of apples rock and roll.
A twenty-first century still life electric
A keyboard for a table: items eclectic,
dormant smart-phone without its cable.
Car keys for freedom: PC offers an oyster

That's clever! Seems to symbolise how we do not live in the moment, do not actually hold or smell things how we used to. "still life electric" is a brilliant phrase. The two references to oyster also, one all about the senses, the other all about knowledge. Really enjoyed and made me think. Even your title, it IS still Life, but not as those artists knew it

Love the buildup of anticipation!
How the reader reads through this illustrious list wondering what will be at the end. We end up with a still life that is both a lot less still (because of the electric energy) and a lot less life (because it's not life-sustaining food, but objects). A poignant contrast and such a fun read!
