Bus Pass Has a Birthday Treat

Bus Pass is three years old today and is feeling rather excited. By coincidence, a new ‘Søstrene Grene’ shop is opening in Aberdeen, and Bus Pass, a long-term Scandiphile, has been champing at the bit to be let loose in the big city, for a rummage and a nice lunch.
Early this morning, Bus Pass hopped, skipped and jumped onto the bus and up the stairs, for a midsommer birthday treat. “Hoorah!”
Bus Pass imagines travelling on the top deck is akin to rolling on the ‘Deadwood Stage’. Bus Pass sometimes wishes it would stop, in the manner of those suffering sea-sickness, but knows, if Dick Turpin himself were to demand, “Stand and deliver”, he’d be swept aside with a squirt of windscreen-wiper fluid, and the cry of ‘Whip-crack-away’ ringing in Black Bess’ ears. Bus Pass finds it a roller-coaster ride once the bus gets going. Not for the faint-hearted or weak of core. Bus Pass reverts to the ‘riding a camel’ methodology, and goes with the sway.
Bus Pass was shocked by the queue of people waiting for the ‘Søstrene Grene’ Grand Opening, and even more surprised when two ballet dancers started dancing at the entrance. Bus Pass was making a birthday wish that they’d cut the crap and just open the doors. Then, when the small man with the large microphone started rambling on, Bus Pass almost left to go to ‘Waterstones’ first instead. Luckily, Bus Pass stayed. The first 100 customers won a voucher for a free rug, and Bus Pass was customer 100. Bus Pass felt they deserved 100 free rugs for putting up with the palaver.
Bus Pass was on a klondike, liberating more birthday swag than Dick Turpin himself could have plundered.
Afterwards, Bus Pass had to have a sit down.
And a “sasperilly”.

A very happy birthday to you
A very happy birthday to you and your bus pass. It sounds as if you both made the best of things (and a free rug too - how generous!)

Hooray for Bus Pass! Glad it
Hooray for Bus Pass! Glad it was a lovely day.
We had a Søstrene Grene open here in York a few months ago, and it's always packed. I'm also a Scandiphile, but my son's partner, who's Swedish, frowns at me whenever I talk about Søstrene Grene because, you know, Danish...and why haven't I been to IKEA like a sensible person?
Hope Bus Pass has many more sunny days out.
