On The Bright Side

I sometimes wish I could
look on the bright side
as friends suggest I should
and many times I've tried
 
but I do not feel cheerful
or hope things will improve;
in fact, I am rather fearful
we are all stuck in a groove.
 
We hear or read in the press
of countries fighting their foes.
The world is truly in a mess
and humanity is full of woes.
 
Things could still get worse,
there might occur an eclipse;
on the bright side, of course,
we haven't yet had Apocalypse

Hello Di. I am always happy when I can raise a smile. Even though the global situation seems to be leaning toward Armageddon, we are still alive and can only be grateful for small mercies.
I am well enough and not being blown away by strong winds. We only had zephyrs here in the Chashire Riviera.

Yeah, look on the bright side, they say.  Of what?

'Pair of curtains' we always called it.  'Pull yourself together'.

It'll brighten up when the apocalypse comes, no doubt.

A good definition, Tom but I am inclined to think that the narrator is a realist:  a person who accepts the world as it literally is and deals with it accordingly.
