Skating Without Ice

Softly glide, liquid wondrous
through lazy days; how fragile
your plight on pond and lake,
rays rippling beneath hasten
you on,
then, in dreamy moments we
see you're full of purpose; yet
impetuous, most mischievous,
flimsy elegance trips the nimble
dance.
Traverse for a time; filled with
peril, imminent cravings seek
morsel. Cavort in a whirl if you
will...skim under peaceful skies;
but stay vigilant Water Striders
to watchful eyes.
Please watch: Just love this video: It gave me a smile.

Beautiful descriptions of life Jenny! Like "Cavort in a whirl if you will" Almost weekend and it is month-end too. Shops will be a madhouse.
All the best, take it easy with that operation! Tom

And without skates.
And without skates too, which is just as well because they'd struggle to fasten them up.
This is a great poem. And I like your choice of song too.
Nice one Jenny!

Flimsy legs
If pond skaters took to drinking whey protein shakes they could become our planet's dominant species. I think it's worth a try.

This is so beautiful, Jenny! I can watch them for ages, but could never have thought up this amazing poem, you have really caught their grace and insouciant fragility, as well as their environment. Brilliant
