The little red coat,
Pristine in a morose, morning sky;
Her daddy's far away,innocent, a tiny child,
She doesn't ask him, 'why'?
Seasons come and seasons go,
Time shows no mercy, as days become years.
The little red coat, sits locked away,
Oblivious to a thousand tears.

I really like this - and I'm not sure why. I understand the significance of the little red coat and its cultural significance - notably since the film of Schindler's List. Yet this poem talks of 'daddy' and a 'morose, morning sky'. A cherry is awarded because this poem is haunting me!

Thank you so much! Delighted with the cherry! : ) I wanted to leave the reader to draw his own conclusions from the piece; hence not divulging too much within the content; yes I suppose I want the reader to be 'haunted' by it. To enlighten you a little though; it is actually about a little girl whose father could not/would not love her and all her ever bought her was the little, red coat that she wore with pride, despite her always loving him, although he always remained a stranger.
