OCTOBER MAGIC

Autumns finally on its way,
Octobers nearly here,
some people say they love Summer,
but this is my favourite time of the year.
Frosty mornings and shortening days,
spur us on to get things done.
All around preparations,
are being made for the cold winter nights to come.
Many frogs and insects,
begin to disappear,
as they go into hibernation,
for the coldest time of the year.
The Hawthorn and the rose-hip bushes,
are stripped of their harvest by the birds,
October is the time for mushroom picking,
walking the forest's and the woods.
The golden rays of autumn sunshine,
are almost on their way,
"Watchout!" You just might see a squirrl,
collecting nuts to hide away.
You can't help but open your eyes,
to the wonderful world of nature,
when your walking at my favourite time of the year,
yes walking in October.
