Today I feel beautiful, and fragile
Tragic
Exposed; waiting for the bomb to hit.
Life has been wonderful to me,
Yet I am full of doubt, apprehension.
Small moves Ellie… I am only an egg.
What more can I do?
Or less?
Waiting, hoping; dreading a bit even.
Will I sour this with my fear?
Can I tear the skin forming around us,
Scar this loose fitting bond I have waited so long for.
Out of the sheer inability to just let it grow?

I love the certainty, and

I love the certainty, and uncertainty of it all.
I like the line in the middle:
Small moves Ellie... I am only an egg.
It reads oddly from the rest of the poem. Like it's
a private thought to yourself.
Interesting.

I ageree with the Talisman, that line in the middle is both disconcerting and appropriate. Nice poem, DClaire. When I read the first couple of lines this came into my head for some reason -
'Today I feel beautiful and fragile
in the same instant.'

Lots of folk think that

Lots of folk think that their comments have to be poignant, but that isn't always so - an 'I enjoyed that' or a 'that made me giggle' all help to keep us reasonably sane.
