Florida Beach

Where your waves gave welcome
your surf revived upon this shore,
putting stressful minds at ease
then it was so hard to believe,
as edgy hands cup poor injured soul
who looked at me with glassy eyes:
while clouds formed, grey sky erupts
and a million teardrops begin falling,
this damaged bird deserves no less
than to be protected from that threat,
when wind blows weaving devastation
leaves flotsam on pristine Florida beach,
once golden sand a romantic dream,
all matters of life and debris now lying;
passively waiting for the end of storm
when surging tides once more return.

Hi Jenny,
Hi Jenny,
The plastic in the sea is awful and this poor bird sounds like another casualty with its 'glassy eyes'. I liked the pun on 'lying' in your last verse; I thought it clever!!!

They've had pretty hefty
They've had pretty hefty storms there recently, haven't they? The scene in such places can change dramatically from the relaxing sandy beaches you mention. Birds can get damaged by the weather as well as plastic. And the storm brings in some of the plastic of the oceans too I suppose. Rhiannon
