I was just thinking about you dad

it's been fifteen years to this day

when I lingered beside your bed

watched you take your last breath,

 

though the days – weeks – months and years

have been filled with love, tears and laughter,

lessons of life acknowledged I couldn't alter

endless strength you gave me will never falter,

 

so for this moment I bless your memory

knowing it was your very last journey,

light candle, hope you're in a better place

in darkness maybe shining star in space.

Good morning Jack,

my dad enjoyed that music so much we played it at his funeral. It was kind of you to read and share your thoughts. Many thanks for the lovely cherries too.

Good morning insert,

my dad hardly ever bought a CD in his life, but one day while travelling back from the hospital in a taxi, the taxi driver was playing Enya and my dad couldn't resist asking him who was singing? When he found out dad asked me to buy the CD and he played it a lot, said he found it so relaxing and helped with the pain.

Now it's my CD and I enjoy it too. Thank you for reading and leaving a comment, much appreciated.

I love how you show music like a path going from your Dad to you, the same sound travelling through time. If anything can link those on both sides, living with spirits, it must be music. You hae made a sad subjuect full of light

you are so right about music bringing together this world and the spirit world. I think Enya had the voice of an angel and I wonder if that's what my dad heard too.

Paint the sky with stars has the same effect on me.  It is so beautiful and evokes treasured memories for me too. We to as a family have lost our dearest mum/mother in law and the pain is made possible by the smiles we had.  I found your poem incredibly moving.  Thank you for sharing your emotions.

I'm so sorry for your loss, it's always sad when we loose a loved one and nothing seems to beable to ease the pain, but time is a great healer and music evokes those beautiful memories of loved ones and we can share thoughts and smiles of when they were still with us.
