On the precipice of sun break
perched in the silver slipstream
between the passing and new world
a vulture cleans the remnants of a
carcass from its jet black feathers,
the African outback's belly out-stretched,
the night's sky heavy with drizzle
gorging on precipitation
shrouded in a veil of sparkling mist,
rising from ashen orange rockery,
my skull, reminiscent of the charred bones
at the entrance of the vultures nest
hollow at the thought of you,
resting on a ghost-white pillow.
