the fortunate

fortunate are we
who are able to stumble upon any clarity
that might reveal our own idiocy
our own absence of any idea whatsoever
about our own existence
during this brief pubic hair of
life,
before we disappear forever---
and with that knowledge,
to apologize to those we’ve wronged
to think before we speak
to try to act with more compassion
without motive beyond that of the
sake.

for that done without motive
seems to be the most beautiful &
how fortunate we are if we realize that
before it is all over.
