I came out from my theatre late last night, running for the bus in amongst all the Sat night alkie student types that are housed nearby.

I was desperate to get home big, bubbly bath, candles, cup tea and jump into my lovely, clean bed.

As l was visualising and processing those thoughts, l saw a man lying on a bench, asleep. Well, l hope he was ..

He seemed to have a good deal of clothes on, 3 assorted hats and a pair of torn shoes. How ashamed l felt. I raced by him, turning again and again to look at him, Linda Blair style.

How absolutely ghastly to both see and be this person. Maybe he will find shelter in a more appropriate place, you know, out of sight. Hidden away. Under a bridge ..

Or perhaps he should be photographed, and put on all the Christmas cards we send in a week or two.

bernard shaw As one of the homeless living in a cardboard box and sleeping on park benches, I have this question to ask. Could you not have spoken to the unfortunate. a few kind words would have made his or her day. Money is not all that is lacking it is sometimes a few well chosen words of sympahy and of wanting to help. No one expects you to take him or her home to give them a hot meal or even a bed most though would have appreciated it. Bern

where i live i see a lot of homeless people...or living in cars...so very sad - alvin

Bern xx lt was nearly 11pm, and l had been working both in the busy shop and at a busy theatre. I was desperate to get home, to my comfy bed. I felt really upset to witness it. Selfish, even. He was a huge fellow, asleep, and no, l wouldn't have spoken to him. Sometimes l do, and there are familiar faces begging around town that say hello etc, but in this case it wasn't appropriate. I will bear it in mind though. Hope you don't think badly of me ..

bernard shaw Denni,Some down and outs look worse than what they really are.A wash, a shave, hair combed gives a better view Perhaps but even those amenities can only be got from a public toilet. Denni Many people would have passed him by. I too perhaps if I was a female and it was late at night. One never knows and one cannot be too careful Bern
