Moving in

and autumn leaves fall in spring
as i shiver in his car
behind the wheel
the doctor said there's nothing wrong
it's just that summer came too soon

i get dizzy when i climb the stairs
hear him whisper my name
he's not there
i know

it was only 3 pm
but they put him to sleep
and gave me counselling

i didn't need it
i just wanted to know if his dog will be ok
last night
his bed tried to swallow me up

waking up, he's in my pumpkin PJ's
i grip the pencil with my teeth
as i take the painting down

let down is too smooth a word
for the fall his cushion gave me
i sit at the window
and i wonder
why summer came so soon
