Rugby Shirt

Just had my Birthday, they say it’s a milestone
Forty years old, and yet I feel so alone
Present wise didn’t do very well, if I was to be curt
Two books and a rugby shirt, that was all, it did hurt
One of the books was how to be a writer, can that be taught?
The other was by the Dalai Lamar. The Art of Happiness, a thought
I suppose it is a crossroads, depending on which one I read first
If I read one, the other I take the other to the shop to be reimbursed
