A Busy Day

I watched the grass grow in the garden
Ants scurry in a queue
I watched butterflies on flowers
Drinking up the dew
I saw a snail on the wall
The leaves upon the path
And in a smallish puddle
I saw a bird take a bath
I noticed funny shapes in clouds
An airplane way up high
Dragon flies were dancing
Across the pale blue sky
I noticed tree limbs forming
A pattern of delicate lace
And in the honey suckle
Several bees have a taste
I heard a dog bark in the distance
The sound of running feet
Someone’s music playing
With a rumba beat
I heard snippets of conversation
From across the way
But I am too polite
To notice what they say
You may say I’m being idle
As I sit and stroke the cat
And wallow in the garden chair
I can’t imagine that
With every thing that’s going on
You must certainly know
I’ve really been quite busy
As far as these things go!
