The Grass is Greener Syndrome

The grass is greener syndrome
is the idea that better things
can be found away from home.
We think that our life is tough
that the pittance we are paid
for our work is never enough.
That money brings happiness
is the notion that motivates
people to hanker for success.
Where else but New York city
can we go to satisfy our wish
to get rich and fill the kitty.
Residents of the Big Apple
who with complete poverty
do not have to grapple,
go to work in a limousine
as we can see on the cover
of the Time magazine.
All seems to be hunky-dory
in the land of opportunity
but that is not the full story.
Evaluate the pros and cons;
due to inadequate education
the illiterate exceed the dons.
There cannot be much fun
where there is racial tension
and extremists waving a gun.
I believe I've enough evidence
that grass is not always greener
on the other side of the fence.

Good poem Luigi
Good poem Luigi very true. Have you heard of the "geographical cure"? Very sad such elusive happiness. And I agree with JP.
Cheers! Tom
