After three licks to the paw
And four swipes behind the ear
He'd have a snooty sniff
At the food in his bowl
Before scoffing the lot.
Then with his tail erect,
And an air of indolence,
He would go down the garden
Searching a sunny spot.
I swear I never saw
Such utter independence;
And four swipes behind the ear
He'd have a snooty sniff
At the food in his bowl
Before scoffing the lot.
Then with his tail erect,
And an air of indolence,
He would go down the garden
Searching a sunny spot.
I swear I never saw
Such utter independence;
It looked as if
The world was his oyster.
He didn't care a jot.
Yet on a winter night
He'd seek my company
Clawing at my pullover.
And he would never tire
Of purring in my ear.
Perhaps it was affection,
But I begin to wonder.
The world was his oyster.
He didn't care a jot.
Yet on a winter night
He'd seek my company
Clawing at my pullover.
And he would never tire
Of purring in my ear.
Perhaps it was affection,
But I begin to wonder.
He had a predilection
For a warm gas fire.
He'd stretch and then roll over
As though it was his right.
Alas those days have gone
Now he's no longer here:
No more jaunty japes,
No more chasing a ball
And I'm left to ponder
On the mortality of us all.
For a warm gas fire.
He'd stretch and then roll over
As though it was his right.
Alas those days have gone
Now he's no longer here:
No more jaunty japes,
No more chasing a ball
And I'm left to ponder
On the mortality of us all.

This is so incredibly accurate!
This is so incredibly accurate! Go rather for persian or siamese they're more human but best is just get a dog they are wonderful companions not so aloof and detached. Very good poem really well written.
Good luck! Nolan

Hi Luigi,
Great poem about cats being ever so independent and only wanting attention on their terms.
