Early in the twenties,
Nearly a decade in,
A faux-riche people become poor.
No make do and mend
Only how
Do we get our credit back?
People wanting to spend more
They haven’t got
Never had.
Let everything come back
As easy as treacle running
From the spoon into the tin.
Don’t make us work and earn and save.
We want more to be miserable
About not having, so we can get
On credit, and be (un)happy.
Early in the twenties,
A decade in
The spirit poor people want more.
