The Vicious Circle of Brittle Leaves

Leaves so brittle, fallen from the trees above;

Trampled underfoot by wandering minstrels.

Their music calming in savage beasts of wrath!

Ravaging stepping wolves howling at a full moon.

 

Hopping and skipping on a Moon shadow; 

Shadows of Hank Marvin backing Cliff Richard.

“Are you a cliff or are you Cliff?!” asks the people’s poet.

Tragic death of the People’s Poet from the Young Ones.

 

"But how can our leader die when his poems live on?"

Poetry a lyrical horticultural growth with interwoven brambles.

Brambles a tanglement of gnarly branches without leaves,

Leaves so brittle, fallen from the trees above….

I enjoyed this poem and understand that poetry is a tangle of words that entwine, becoming jumbled to eventually having meaning. Hope I read this as you intended it percieved.

Loved how you shifted from nature to music and then on to poetry.

Beautifully interwoven and very much enjoyed reading.

Thank you Jenny for taking time to read and apppraise this poem. My intention was to start with a random line and somehow return logically to the same line, sort of like the song "There's a hole in the bucket:"( whcih follows the argment between Lisa and Henery as to how to fix a hole in the bucket. It ends up with Henry having to fetch some water to make the stone dry so he can sharpen the axe to cut the straw short enough to patch up the hole. Unfortunalely he cannot fetch any  water as the bucket has a hole in it.)
