‘Can you take me away
from the bombs and mess?
And can you be trusted?
– unlikely, I guess.

‘How much must I pay you?
It’s all that I own.
Dare I pay in advance?
– guarantees unknown.

‘Is your route really safe,
destination sure,
with room for another,
a welcome secure?

‘And can I adjust to
a country afar?
a people, a culture
that’s not at war?

Much for the reader to think about in this poem, Rhiannon...it is short, certainly not sweet, and the final stanza, far reaching.  

An excellent take on the I.P.

So simply and plainly put, Rhiannon. Made me think what it's like to exchange one terror for another with only the chance of it working out for the best. Very real and thought provoking.

Thank you, Bee. If ever caught with such choices, we would have to entrust our decision and care and eternal welfare to our heavenly Father. But it is so tragic that there is such sadness, but thank God that there are some trying to help and show genuine concern to those trying to escape, and to those unable to do so. Rhiannon

I so wish more people saw things from the eyes of the immigrants, instead of the economists or politicians. Nothing short of desparation causes someone to feel they need to leave their home, and yet people find it so hard to have compassion for them. It breaks my heart.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment, aech.

I think there is much endeavour to publish the plight of the refugees, and much compassion, though I suppose there are worries and concerns about how our comforts and 'riches' will be affected, and that is affecting compassion. Compassion has to be practical!

And I suppose the economists and politicians are aware they'll get stick if the general public find the costs and discomfort caused filter down to all society, together with concern if some unscrupulous people of bad intent slip in with the flood. So, such deceivers, if they exist, and callous smugglers, and those messing up the homelands, need to be given some blame! regards, Rhiannon

Thanks, Jean. And I tried to give thought to the massive adjustments and attempts to understand these hosts who have such a different background, that they will also need to contemplate if all the journey and welcome does turn out well. Many aspects now forced to our attention. Rhiannon
