The Mystery of Cat

foraging in the midst of pride

scents mountain air-flow

and shakes off stream’s chill

not so far away.

Her thirst prompts a low level prowl

towards the gurgling –

from one large branch above

a breath of feathers

quiver in observance: curious

owl watching

the panther-copycat walk, tail

wagging with purpose --

a mewling readies with challenge.

Cat discovers the stream

slakes its thirst,

then erupts with a piercing scream.
