The little things count,
so I'm told,
and I tally them up now,
as a child does, on fingers.
Small tokens;
A new colouring book
on market day, and
those pink plastic shoes
I'd wanted all summer,
for christmas.
Do you now, I wonder,
cherish these
infrequent letters
and last minute cards.
Do you count the minutes
we spend on the phone,
in single figures,
on one hand.
Do you turn them
-fake plastic gems-
in the dark earth
of your heart,
wiping them off,
naming them love,
making them count.

Hi shoe,
you have written a great little poem here, reminding
us how important the little things in life are.
I particularly like the third stanza, it's wonderful
how much better you feel, after reading a letter
from a friend, or a phone conversation, or recieving
a special card.
Yes I really did enjoy this special little poem.
Thankyou for the read.
Jenny.

Ah Shirley - both cherry
Ah Shirley - both cherry picked on the same day and both poems to do with not taking things for granted perhaps- could such little things have greater import I wonder?
Seriously though, I enjoyed this very much.

Really nice, shoe. Made me think. This kind of poem (reflective thoughts) kind of puts things in one's own life into perspective. Thanks.

I forgot to take anything to work for lunch yesterday and was destined to eleven hours with nothing, I'm stuck in the shop once we open for trade. Dave walked in with a sandwich and a coffee for me and it could have been a diamond. Little things matter. Nice one Shoe.
