Blessing Autumn

Yellow – gold –
Orange – red,
Falling to earth
With clarity
Of rest,
Naked branches
Are silhouetted
Bandaged in bark,
Some dead wood
Cracks and snaps
In October woods,
Mold beneath
Feeding life...
Earthing roots,
Where past and
Presence falls
Into deep sleep.
Yet! I would
Welcome
Brush
Of chill,
Where night
Wings its way
From some
Secret place,
That hope of
Wandering
Wrapped
Up warm,
Far too long I've
Hungered rambles
Through Cathedral
Of towering trees,
Escaping summer's
Burning heat that
In youth I once
Would welcome,
Now it's my time
To bless Autumn.

You bring out the beauties
You bring out the beauties and the preparations of autumn for the winter time. Those trees in leaf were a shelter and shade for your rambles in the height of summer, but autumn begins to reveal the beauty of the tree skeletons. But when it's not too hot, it's lovely to see the hedges and fields in flower in summer and spring! Rhiannon

An eloquent and very
An eloquent and very descriptive homage to the unique qualities of Autumn, a temperate season which is the precursor of harsher climatic conditions.
It has been said that 'the fall is a season for balancing light and dark, letting go, and accepting the impermanence of things'.
You have interpreted these characteristics very well, Jenny.

Your sense of longing is so
Your sense of longing is so strong here, reminds me of the need birds have to migrate, but you must wait for the weather to come to you. I really like the image of cathedral of towering trees, and the idea of night coming on wings from a secret place
