Forest Rhythm
By skinner_jennifer
- 1903 reads
Time elapses
often so fast,
forest creates
its own rhythm,
grasping invisible
links unseen,
underground darkness
no twinkle of stars,
just systems transporting
reports of danger above,
communication
submissive
to tickling insects,
roots drifting...
touching like
fingers entwined,
embracing thoughtful
messengers of earth
concealed,
no breath of life
just careful crawl
pushing soil
with warnings of danger,
If one family member
should suffer,
surrounding trees
will weep their
lingering sap tears,
but will rise again
to see another day.

Thanks, Jenny
I got so sensitive towards plants and their intercommunication that I'd ask them if I could move one - sometimes yes, sometimes no - they have a way of impressing on some profound level of consciousness and you can meet them there - sounds weird but them as knows, they knows

I love this image of the forest as a kind of communication hub. I heard something on the radio the other day about the very sophisticated communication between trees, and it breaks your heart when you think what we do to them.

I saw this rather late on Saturday and meant to come back to it today. I remember writing something on the Wood-Wide-Web of fungus spreading throughout the wood and being a link between trees.
Aren't exposed roots on banks beautiful in their twists and knots? Rhiannon

Lord of the Rings
I watched a Hobbit movie yesterday on a Dvd. Brilliant. There are some lovely forest scenes we don't have many around these parts. Your description of a forest is wonderful.
Keep at it! && Nolan

I liked this poem very much.
I liked this poem very much.
Forests are very much alive, and though they may have the power to regenerate, as you say, they sometimes come to grief for the sake of progress. I guess humans need the entire planet to stretch out their legs.
Well done
