It's Too Late For Things Missed

Dear diary...recalling my walk
with my partner across the cliffs
of St Ives in Cornwall, from so long ago.
In my mind we are there again,
still miles from our journey's end.
On impulse we took the coastal path;
adventures awaiting rambling up and
down, zigzagging around each bend.
Your attention not on our destination...
but more about guiding me over hills;
an exploration into the unknown, like
two souls leaving behind reality; a
promise of impressive views, breezes
cascading down tranquil bluff; while
sweeping us along.
Some lads pitched a tent on a ledge,
I worried they'd be swallowed up by
crashing waves: that wasn't possible now
I decide... they're high as kites above the
rocks.
Looking up into the blue sky, a procession
of brief marshmallow clouds...some wispy
like white candyfloss, expressing carefree
freedom above rolling ocean waves.
Time was slipping away, we stopped to
catch our breath, quenched our thirst from
an underground stream; pure nectar flowing.
Our quest searching the treasures wildlife
had to offer...nearly at an end.
Now since it's been so long, my memory's
unaware how swift winged birds were in flight,
or energy flowed in beauty of landscape. Now
I own a decent camera, how I long to capture
those moments again.

If now was then, how many
If now was then, how many more momentoes would we have of life? Our kids, holidays, days like that?
This is beautiful, and I can't wait to see Cornwall. I've never been and we're going to make it our main holiday next year (Mark's favourite haunts in Wales this year, and we did Whitby last month, I'd never been there either, and it's gorgeous.) A fellow camper said not to go to Cornwall in the hight of the season as it's a nightmare, and far better when the schools are in session. Small tips that I'm picking up ad taking on board for our adventures.
A lovely poem, Jenny. I wonder if I'll remember it while we're there walking along the cliffs? Thank you.
Lovely summer days.

the only thing is that now we take so many photos as we don't have to print them, and then we rarely do print any, and they can get rather numerous!
Lovely to have memories in your head like this though, especially as we get older and can't repeat so much. Lovely reminder, thank you. Rhiannon

Happy birthday, Jenny! I don
Happy birthday, Jenny! I don't have a smartphone, only an ordinary mobile, but my camera is digital, and I can download the pictures onto miy laptop, and so rarely or never print out photos now. As has been said you can get much more in a poem than one photo!

A lovely poem full of priceless memories Jenny. It's decades since I was in Cornwall myself but your words have brought back lovely recollections of my own.
And it's not too late to gather new memories, with or without a camera... though a camera helps.
Thank you for filling my head with these thoughts.
Very best wishes,
Turlough

Enjoyed very much Jenny. The thing is though, if you had had a camera then, you might have not felt everything around you the way you did, to make this intense memory? Because you would have been looking for a composition to fit in the edges of the shape of a photo instead. At least that is how I find it. Cannot seem to gather thoughts for a poem if I have my camera. So I am selfishly very glad you didn't have a camera, as got to read this poem!

Happy birthday Jenny, or chesteet rozhden den (честит рожден ден) as we say here in Bulgaria.
I hope the world has been kind to you today and you have been provided with an ample supply of cake.
Наздраве!
