THE TORMENT OF SARAH

The Ice Queen stood,
transfixed to the light of the moon,
she held aloft the dish of white powder,
prodding, smoothing the white stuff.
Finally she calls the girls name, "Sarah,"
the Ice Queen stares with those piercing eyes,
entrancing all who see her.
Sarah sits beside her fire,
sewing a tapestry of home,
she stares into the flames,
she hears her name being called,
as if in a trance, she cries out,
"who calls my name?"
but there is nobody there,
just her cat asleep, dreaming of catching mice.
"Sarah come to me,
come out into the snow,
find me Sarah,
you know where I am."
Lost in time, she walks out the door,
the snow cold and icy,
but her mind once so alert,
now under the spell of the mystery voice.
"I'm coming," she cries,
the Ice Queen with her evil stare,
beckons with her hands,
"come to me Sarah, you know where I am."
Suddenly as if stuck rigid,
Sarah spies the Ice Queen,
white as snow, staring through the branches,
her wolf at her side.
The Ice Queen moves towards her,
staring, smiling almost floating,
"how beautiful she is," thinks Sarah,
"with her long flowing white hair."
"Come Sarah, you know you want it,
make it easy on yourself,
come taste the sweetness,
let your mind drift, take it easy."
Sarah is now face to face,
staring into those icy cold eyes,
she takes a hit,
feeling her body explode.
"Can't you see it coming Sarah?
bubbling, moving slowly,
gorging through the fires of hell,
taking the life force."
Letting go it happens,
so to hell with it, here it comes,
like a torment building,
grippy, gripey, dribbling, slimey,
crude and drooling, brimming over,
bubbling here it comes,
taking hold of my skin,
creeping slowly through my veins,
destroying the very life left in me,
"don't you know who I am?"
rhubarb tastes so sour without sugar,
like your kisses taste without the powder.
Draw my energy and bond it,
like thick tar,
glue sticking fast like gum to my shoe,
soon to be transfixed by your powder.
"Can you still not guess who I am?
you need to respect me,
or soon you will loose feeling,
and will be lost forever."
A rainbow of colours envelopes Sarah,
warming her body, changing the scene,
staring with eyes wide open,
a mind bending dream.
She lies down on a bed of snow,
feeling nothing, her mind bends and stretches,
the Ice Queen stands over Sarah laughing,
then she is gone, the candle blown out.
