The reflection in the water, stares back in dismay

A glimpse of recollection for a lost soul

The contorted image, a distraction

Simplicity is its name

Eyes closed in by premenitional blinkers

Mind concussed by emotional breakdown

Sweet is the dawn

To a ‘being’ such as this

Truth within the ripples

Of an ocean bereft of knowledge.

Thanks Sooz. This is one of the poems that I tend to write after coming back from the pub. I write each line in quick succession to see what immediately comes to mind. They usually take a minute or two. No longer. Sometimes very deep, other times bizarre. It's good to give yourself a timed challenge every now and again.
