The Wedding Waitress

The happy couple said their vows
In the bright sunshine
As their guests stood and watched
Drinking sparkling white wine
The bride looked amazing
In her glowing white dress
But I couldn't take my eyes off
The pretty waitress
I stood and watched her
Sunglasses shading my gaze
As she gracefully wandered
Serving posh canapes
She approached me slowly
With a cute little smile
I took some food from her plate
And stared for a while
I said she looked pretty
But this made her blush
She looked all embarrassed
As she moved on in rush.
Her hair was brown
And was slightly curly
She wasn't too tall
About 5'4 or 5'3
She had porcelain skin
And astonishing green eyes
That weren't only pretty
You could tell they were wise.
We sat down for dinner
And the speeches began
As we tucked into our starter
Which was Mellon with ham
We drank and we laughed
While toasting the Bride and Groom
But I couldn't see my waitress
My eyes were scouring the room.
Then in a moment of pure
Serendipity
She knocked a full beer
And it splashed all over me.
She said she was sorry
As she took away my plate
I said that's OK
And thought 'this is fate!'
The wedding continued
And I was a bit worse for wear
I just kept thinking about her
Should I talk to her? Do I dare?
I decided I would
As the evening was coming to a close
Its now or never I thought
I need to give her that rose.
I took a rose from a centerpeice
And waited for my chance
No-one else was around
They were all having a dance.
She appeared from the kitchen
And I made my move
I walked over to her
And tried to act smooth
I said 'This is for you'
Then handed her the rose
She smiled and said
'Thank you, is it from one of those'
I laughed and said 'yes'
And she giggled back at me
We were sharing a moment
And were chatting quite happily
I said 'sorry I embarrassed you'
'I just think you are pretty'
She said 'Sorry for soaking you'
Then I said something witty.
She had to go as she was still working
So I quickly asked for her name
'It's Louise' she said 'I'm Darren' I said
'And hopefully I'll see you again'.
I took her hand and kissed it once
As she smiled and said goodbye
'It was lovely to meet you' I said
Walking away, I felt I could fly.
It's the next day now
I'm thinking of Louise
The moment we shared
Both completely at ease.
Despite being strangers
We just seemed to click
A wonderful moment
Where we both seemed to fit.
Fate will decide if I see her again
Who knows what direction we're heading?
But I'll never forget the moment we shared
Louise, the Waitress from the Wedding
