January; thank you very
much for all the things you bring;
hope and healing; that bright feeling
of a brand new beginning.

Bright, beautiful carnations bloom
re-incarnated from Earth’s womb
and happy songbirds fill the sky
whistling the winter goodbye.

January; have you any
happy news in store for me?
Maybe this year, all I wish for
will be mine, let’s wait and see.

Soon we’ll see the joys of April;
the Earth dressed in silk and gems;
flowers will fill the fields and hills
and bright young girls will gather them.
