A Monster Ate My Snowman

A monster ate my snowman.
It crept up in the night
and swallowed it, from head to toe,
in one enormous bite
and so, I made another one.
The monster came again
and swallowed it up, hat and all,
then stomped back to its den.

And so, I thought, “I’ll build one more
but, this time”, I decided,
“I’ll make the snowman hollow
so that I can hide inside it
and trap the snowman eating monster
when it comes to call
and maybe frighten it away
by throwing some snowballs”.

That night, the monster came again
but got quite a surprise.
I hit that monster with a snowball,
right between the eyes.
The frightened monster ran away
and, as it ran, I heard it say,
“I never thought I’d ever see
a snowman scarier than me”.
