I might have left it too late for the kenning I.P. and not sure I've got it right anyway as I think they should be more literal. But I was so taken up with the kenning idea that I thought I'd give it a go. Thanks for the idea and hope the I.P. keeps going.
Brings to mind such a lot in a few lines - brief life of success, strength in standing firm - and I love it starting with 'goosegrass' which I'd never heard of but like the sound of!
What a wonderful defence of what's good or could be good. So many lovely descriptions, Di, but you know those three simple words 'above all sound' stopped me in my tracks. Why is that? Maybe some sense of peace above everything. I read the rest...
I loved it. Just the sort of stuff I notice walking along, a million things soon forgotten. You captured a moment of some of them. Always will it to win!
It's stunning. What a quietness to it. Words that stop you in your tracks. You've suggested the movement of the wolves with the pace. I like the slight repetition and the making of compound words.
I love this. In a few lines you have given a feeling of plenty - especially in the 2nd and 3rd lines which work so well together - and also good wishes. Enjoy your festivities.
Great comment, Di_Hard! I know what Turlough means though - I love watching paint dry on TV eg Portrait Artist of the Year etc - and I have lots of ideas but not the skill. But writing or art, it should all be about enjoyment, at whatever level...

This felt like an all-immersive read, with a beautifully unrushed pace. And I loved the embrace unquestioning.

You say it's a moment in your time but it also seems timeless - a moment that could have happened throughout history. Really beautiful picture.

As usual, beautiful. It's as flickering and entancing as its subject matter. I liked how you connected yourself with them at the end.
