butterfly moment

truants of moonlight
soft as forgetting
wings, pale, delicate
flicker in arcs
then fold, as hair-fine
feet cling, taste star white
wild garlic flowers
low by the path, both
blessed by sun's release
and I, finding peace

While looking up if butterflies have feet, found that, as their proboscis doesn't have taste buds, they taste through their feet!

I noticed you had uploaded a photo for the first time. Are Wikimedia photos free of copyright? I must look up those butterfiles you mention anyway. Rhiannon

If it says public domain I think it's fine too - what a wonderful poem, and a VERY big well done for mastering photo uploading! (beautiful pic btw). I had no idea that butterflies tasted through their feet - how fascinating! Thank you so much for this poem

As usual, beautiful. It's as flickering and entancing as its subject matter. I liked how you connected yourself with them at the end.

your poem shows the beauty of these delicate butterflies, and their fragile world. Isn't nature just the best? I also love the wild garlic flowers...as you describe, with their star white tiny thin petals.
A beautiful nature poem indeed Di. Thank you for sharing.

Hello Di,
I'm afraid I gave my phone camera to my son as I wasn't really using it, but I saw him last week and I took some pictures of our wooded den, because I wanted to capture the maple tree in all its glory...just have to create a poem to go with it, but the creative flow on this is not coming at the moment and I don't want to force it, will just have to wait and see.
But I am tempted to go out and buy a decent camera with zoom lens and all that jazz, but like you I'm not technology minded and might have problems uploading, so will think long and hard before commiting, just wish my son was around all the time, because he has more idea than me.
Any way thank you for asking, I would say go ahead and buy one, especially as your husband knows what to do.
Take care.
Jenny.

hello again Di, I know
hello again Di, I know exactly what you mean, these days when people know how to do something, they tend to go at a hundred miles an hour, and I have to say I'm as slow as a snail. If I don't keep doing on a regular basis, I forget quickly.
I think we probably both need a patient professional instructor that we can magically pull out of a hat when we need them. Sorry I'm being a bit daft.
As far as writing about how to use a camera if I get one and uploading, it would be like the blind leading
the blind. I do upload pictures off of pixabay free to use, which I find so easy to do...you just right click and copy and paste and save.
Hope this helps. Good luck.
Jenny.

'Truants of moonlight' - that
'Truants of moonlight' - that's gorgeous, Di. In fact the whole thing evokes such a beautiful picture. I was completely entranced.
Interesting about the butterflies' feet. I'm currently reading 'Other Minds' by Peter Godfrey-Smith about the octopus and the evolution of intelligent life (it was R4's Book of the Week some time ago and I wittered on about it so much my son bought me the book to shut me up) and of course octopuses taste, smell and do pretty much everything else through their arms. The different methods pursued by evolution never cease to amaze.
And another vote here for Pixabay! Everything on there is copyright free, so I never have to worry whether I've read the terms and conditions wrongly!

Reading this is akin to a butterfly kiss. I love how the length echoes the length of a butterflies visit and 'soft as forgetting' is genius. They are magical little creatures.
