That girls don't kiss boys who've eaten Marmite,
or even speak to them sometimes.
That pot would turn into skunk before I tried it,
and that I was missing something.
That Betamax would lose out to VHS,
or 8-track to cassettes.
That the miners' strike was the end of industry,
and we'd all be at someone's service.
That the wrong Kinnock was the leader,
and that would lead to the Tony Party.
That being eighteen doesn't make you right,
just obnoxious to the wrong people.
That being fifty doesn't make you wise,
or even able to change anything.
That all the time between was there for me,
if only I had known you.
