Beware the ides of March they said
If corporate taxes aren’t paid
Through London’s magnate-laden streets
Crowds chant and charge to vengeful beats
Smart bombs promote the rebel cause
In a civil war with moral flaws
The temperature’s rising to the boil
As BP chase the Mad Dog’s oil
No birdsong falls from winter trees
Where radiation rides the breeze
This silent ninja stalks Japan
And leaves no footprints in the sand
Who knows what breaking news is next
Perhaps world peace declared by text
Or maybe cancer research teams
Will find a cure in someone’s dreams

If you'll excuse the superlatives, oldpesky, I thought this was pretty damn excellent as a poem and also as topical comment. Lovely meter and eloquently expressed. Much enjoyed.

Hi Oldpesky,
you certainly made a very real point with this poem.
I think that it was very clever and brings home the
fact that everytime you turn on the news, or read a
newspaper, it seems to be in your face all the time.
I hope we can have more of your last stanza, it
would make such a nice change, don't you think?
Anyway well done on this poem, simply brilliant.
Jenny.
