If you meet me, have some sympathy 9

I pelted along the street, weaving in and out of the gathering crowds. My side aren’t good at torture – they start off with the best of intentions but then forget that they’re supposed to be extracting information. There wouldn’t be much left of Theresa if I didn’t reach her soon.
Mephisto had let me go but only so he could find out what I was planning. I glanced up and saw tell-tale shadows flitting over the rooftops. Ducking into a shopping centre I managed to lose them but knew they’d catch up sooner or later. I would have to keep the job as clean as possible.
They were holding her at the back of a department store, nothing if not predictable (I suppose that sort of place feels close to home). They’d taken precautions – but against the enemy, not me. I brought down four in bedrooms and linen, and caught up with the fifth in kitchenware. It was clean enough and I don’t think the humans noticed anything.
Theresa didn’t look good but we managed to get clear before reinforcements arrived. They’d blame it on enemy action but Mephisto would guess. I’d just have to stay ahead of him somehow.
