The Little Pill

i take this little pill to forget about you.
i take it to sleep, and wake up 100 years later, when finally this bleeding hole in my stomach has healed, this beat of my heart has stopped, your smell is no longer on my neck, and I have forgotten about you.
I was warm, so warm, knowing that you were there. You made me light up, my skin shone like diamonds. People would stop to ask me why.
You were in my smile, in me, the warmth that kept the blood pushing through my spine, making me stand up straight. Proud, happy, warm.
I am wasted on you. This diamond skin, these flushed lips, this uncontainable smile, this coming home every time I sink my hands into your chest and nuzzle the nape of your neck. Only to find you cold.
I am wasted without you. These long months of building buildings in the air, based on your beautiful hazel eyes, the scars of stories along your chin, how you pull me into your arms and once again I am home.
You call me 'My Love', and every time, EVERY TIME, I blush and shine like an incandescent idiot.
So now I take this little pill to forget you. And another. And another. And soon the days will pass. And I will lose all sense of feeling. Just like you.
