Mother Nature's Plan

Sun sinks low under
a November sky...as a
dusky mantle silhouettes
the drowsy close of day;
soon that lady fair will
climb to kiss the twilight,
as quiet gentle whispers
carry on a chill breeze,
and the earth is still.
Winding – searching beneath
the folds of tangled growth,
another world uninhibited,
left hushed and peaceful,
where creepy-crawlies
and flying insects with
transparent wings of the
finest gossamer lace,
lie dormant – motionless
settled in silent limbo;
they are no dead beats
or wasters of time...for
when spring awakens
once more, capturing the
passions of a new dawn,
rousing at first then
staggering unsteadily,
doddering like a drunk
three sheets to the wind,
setting off finally
dreams long gone,
their agility helping
to negotiate the way,
wings perform in mid-air
movement a dance of flight,
some dart like arrows
dazzling in morning sunlight.
High Summer stirs the senses,
bathing in the nectar...intoxicated
by the heady scent of lavender;
a battleground propels others
fighting to the bitter end,
their only weapon determination,
survival of the fittest...a will to succeed.
Though for now Winter approaches,
the last throws of life clinging, before
peace reigns as Mother Nature slumbers.
