Nature in the City

The rosy red - the vibrant green
The purple flourishing the scene
The sun the sky the trees the flowers
The thrill of beauty - sunny hours.
 
I had been lost then I was found
My heart felt home, my mind came round
And roving through the terraced street
The august sun felt city sweet.
 
A welcome feel - a tiny park
To this new traveller made her mark.
I missed my coach but couldn't stay
And to the station made my way.
 
The Art graffittied on a wall -
Bristol's Montpelier I recall.

You made me really think about our use of nature images to cheer and soften walls of the city, and in our own homes, and even our clothing! Rhiannnon

This is a solid poem, skilfully structured with a great rhythm. The little bits of green and untouched nature scattered around a city can jump out at us all the more because of their surroundings; I think concrete provides a good contrast and makes us appreciate "the thrill of beauty" even more.
