School Daze

Now I'm 5 I've got to go to school
Arrrrrgh! look at the size of that big school hall
All the others are so big and tall
How could it be that I am so small?
The building is nice although it's quite old
It's got a swimming pool, brrrr! but it's cold
The school is still big but not as before
I think that it's shrinking, each day more and more
The Teacher's your friend or so I thought
But don't be bad because if you're caught
It's a smack on the bum or a pull by the hair
Sometimes teacher's just aren't very fair.
Now I'm 11 I'm leaving to go
Off to the high school goodbye, cheerio!
To all of my teachers and some of my friends
I'm off to the big school and it all starts again.

I was thinking how well you
I was thinking how well you were getting into the 'eyes' of the 5 year old, growing — the size of the place, and it seeming to shrink. Now I know when it was written, I think, well, that's really something to have sensed all that and got it down at that age. Quite a memento! Rhiannon
