Mother

Mother
In your life, did you take care
Did you skip rope, take the dare
Did you hope to be your mother, and grow as old
And brave each winter, be as bold?
Your life you know, held within your purse
Each love a lyric, each kiss a verse
Coins of change, and bills come due
The days so spent, but each one new
Did you skip the rope, kick the can
Did you love deeply, hold someones hand?
Hide in blankets, when those summer storms passed?
Did you sprint each year,or make each one last.
Or laid back on grass, stare at the stars?
Laughed easy, danced? Gazed a mile afar?
Did you skip rope, and never see
The day would come, at seventy
Remembering when spring held its chill
Dreamed a dream, that candied pill
Did you come to fact? Age and reason?
Did you warm in love, in all your seasons?
Skip the years stones across your waters,
Your children came, you created mothers
So here at last, the skipped rope rests
On shaded porch, in memories chest
Look back, and back, the child , the lady
Know this, I give you,
No matter the age, you will always be
Your mothers baby.

This made me cry.
This made me cry - it was the last line.
