Still January around White Castle, Monmouthshire

A misty walk to White Castle
from Llanvetherine,
but the hills not totally obscured.
We remember the clear panorama all around
the last time we walked this walk;
Castle entry free this time of year –
and the place to ourselves –
the King and Queen walk their domain
and view the views
and the tower remains,
the clogged up state of part of the moat
(awaiting the arrival of maintance,
ticket-selling spring staff?).
Remember the banks of violets seen before;
now all around suspended growth,
some lush green short grass,
a few catkins shaking open,
dry stick trees,
but a beautiful ivy spread on
one of the stone walls of the castle.

Lush! it's wonderful when you
Lush! it's wonderful when you have a beautiful place to yourself. I remember my birthday, Tuesday November 1st, just two of us on Slapton Sands in Devon.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
you do go on some really lovely walks. The fact that you share them with us is such a bonus.
It's always nice to walk around castles, wandering the way that many from the past would have gone, discovering views that take your breath away.
Many thanks for sharing.
Jenny.

...dry stick trees...love this. sounds like a beautiful area.
Thank you for your comment on my lastest poem. my poems mainly come from my imagination, and of course my life paths. kind regards Geraldine. x
