You passed through
like I knew you would
hung up in clouds
building promises
hitching rides on raindrops
(dust for blankets)
just like I knew you would.
And below I waited
knowing I could break your
fall, knowing I could put you
back together.
But you began to tangle
in the very webs there to save you
because I forgot
who you were -
how far you'd come
And when the north gale blew
I knew
I knew I had to let you go
to seed in beds
which were your very own.
