Ringing and rhyming
Singing and chiming!
Silver bells golden bells
Golden bells silver bells!

In the country of the blind
In sorrow gloom and misery
Land of darkness shadow and dusk
Quiet bleak barren sunless waste
Sombre and haunted of dire dread
Murdering cold ghastly lifeless
Still in stillness silent in silence

Burning sparkling glitter
A girlchild's lost in wonder
In the Temple of Light
In the Palace of Visions
In the City of Hope

~

A spark ignites a torch one by one
Each candle lamp and lantern!
Bearing good news through the night
Spreading all over and everywhere
Covering the country and the land
With lights from horizon to horizon!

Bringing tidings of rejoicing!
Bringing tidings of celebration!
Every firelight every firefly
Cheers comforts and heartens
Gladdens each home and each fireside !

Red blue green soft soft bright
Red green blue red blue white!
Cascades of shine and shimmer
All in rapture all agleam and glinting
Flicker flash dance dance and dazzle!

A bell swings,
Strikes and sounds!

From the Tower of Truth
Lofty soaring majestic
Of the Mighty Fortress
The Stronghold of Reign
Tolls the Bell of Faith!

Calling and repeating
Cling clang over and over!
Announcing and proclaiming!

Acclaim the Royal birth!
Feasting joy and jubilation!
A baby is born Holy Messiah
Son of God King of men!

Village to village town to town
Church chapel and cathedral

Faraway merry clangour of harmony
In concert sounding and resounding!
Silver tones in silver keys
Golden keys of golden tones
On and on the outpour rolls!

Rejoice! Exalt laud honour and worship
Our ever merciful Heavenly Father
Hail His precious sacred newborn child!
Miraculous wondrous regal divine
Gentle Saviour Prince of Peace
Lord of Lords King of Kings!

Mothers' sighs and children's eyes
Bless and adore Him hills and skies!
Moon and myriads of stars crystalline
Outshining the cosmic heavens pristine!
Our magnificent Mighty Sovereign
Splendour of the Star of Morning!

Small bells sweet sweet and high
Tinkle tinkle tinkle-ting!
Ting tang ting! Ting-tang ting!
Sing singing
Ding-ding dinging ding!

Big bells low, slow, and deep
Bong-dong!
Bong-dong! Bong-dong!

Golden bells silver bells
Silver bells golden bells!
Chiming and rhyming!
Singing and ringing!

On a Christmas morning
One Christmas early morning!

Hark, the Herald Angels sing, Glory to the new-born King! Peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinner’s reconciled. Joyful all ye nations rise, join the triumph of the skies, with the angelic host proclaim, Christ is born in Bethlehem! Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of Righteousness! Light and life to all He brings, Christ by highest Heaven adored, Christ the everlasting Lord! Hark! The Herald Angels sing, Glory to the new-born King!
