Think within myself

awaken creations

eyes capture springs

message...

 

energy of colour as

harmony blossoms

savour blooms

before petals scatter,

 

enrich me hyacinths,

languid jewels of fragrance,

quench thirst from showers

outside my back door,

 

delicate clusters of

pink – purple and white

elegant star shapes unfurl

stand effortlessly natural,

 

they're dressed to impress

among fountains of yellow,

those daffodil heads now

drooping from gale.

 

Let tulips kiss the air

say goodbye to snowdrops,

welcome in catkins

tell them summer's almost here.

I love how you have such gorgeous language for everyday things, like the one you wrote about your shower. And also this

We had to do Paradise Lost for English at school and somehow your writing often reminds me of that.

I've never read Paradise Lost Di, I'll have to look it up. I do take that as such a compliment though.

The hyacinth bulbs I planted last Autumn just outside my back door give such pleasure at this time and are what inspired me to write this poem.

Hi Rhiannon,

yes it is sad when nature dies so quickly and is replaced by more blooms, but like you say,  I do love that we have seasons and can enjoy so much beauty.

This is beautiful Jenny. There is a sense of nature being effortless yet it always trumps human creations. I love the idea of it all being at your back door, I'm the same, I really appreciate my little garden and as one thing fades there is always some other little wonder to replace it.

Hi Jane,

yes you're right, where would we be without our gardens? I always remember an old friend who lived in a top flat, she only had a small ledge outside her window, but she filled it with so many colourful flowers that stood in wooden boxes she made herself, you wouldn't believe how many flowers she managed to cram into them.

As you say true nature is effortless and always amazes me. Thank you for your comment, I often think we're on the same page when I read your writing which I can relate to in so many ways.

Wow! And Wow again Di, that is some feast of a poem. It's certainly a lot to take in. 

I haven't been able to go out walking at all, if I go too far It becomes really  painful especially walking down hills and I get nervous around crowded places, so no town for me. Luckily my partner's retired so he helps out a lot, but I hate that I've lost my independence again, especially after having it back after the hip operation and then loosing it.

I do enjoy my garden though and get so much pleasure from sitting or walking in it and of course feeding the birds. smiley

The  Physio isn't till May, so I just have to be patient and wait my turn.
