Child Named Hope

What if we were hearing
the child of hope?
Would we listen to this new
cry born out of love
that touches our very soul,
a force free, pure and beautiful?
A mother's arms open
reaching out for
young life
swathed in comfort,
while a father watches on
mindful of protecting
mum's drowsy thoughts
of replenishing sleep,
he'll pick up guitar
play sweet melody of
sun – moon and stars,
an undemanding delight
at this moment in time.
On growing this child will
find wonder in flowers
opening their petals,
catching raindrops that
look so striking
bathed in morning gold,
this child named Hope
will marvel at shimmer of
balmy sun kissed beaches,
play on soft white sand
where hidden secrets pause...
and like welcome lapping waves
upon the seashore,
she will embrace new challenges;
not clinging but moving
through moments,
letting fate take on flow.
As clock ticks away
thriving regardless with smile,
Hope embraces each day
even in turbulent chaos,
like those brisk ocean winds
that fly breakers with frothy
messages upon stiffened rocks,
yet! Breathing new life
as turmoil departs.

Hey Jenny
I haven't been reading any of your stuff for a few months because I was busy with work and hadn't been on the site. Glad to be back and I have some weeks to try and read (but mosty write).
Another poem, and another example of your way with words. Good job.

Lovely. Full of hope and the beautiful beginnings which all children should experience. There is always hope.

Hope seems to be used as an expectation or desire for better things to come. The Bible uses it simplly as certainty and waiting for that, secured by God's word and his purposes in sending Jesus Christ here in whom we are to trust.
I like the idea of the child growing up and taking delight in the signs of beauty and provision still amidst the troubles of this world.

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
This is a lovely poem, and we certainly need Hope in this world. I love seeing new babies. I watch gthe Call the Midwife and get all gooey with each new baby. I worked in a newborn nursery for the summers when i was 17 and 18.
