Gospel – Good News from God

I’m not ashamed of the gospel,
the gospel of Christ, the Lord:
the power of God for salvation –
his mercy and love outpoured.
    How marvellous! how wonderful!
    gospel way has been made known!
    How marvellous! how wonderful!
    Righteousness by faith alone!

I’m not ashamed of the gospel
which comes from the Perfect One,
though people misrepresent him,
and all he has said and done.

I’m not ashamed of the gospel
that offers a gift so good:
new life, peace, pardon and power
for living the way we should.

I’m not ashamed of the gospel
– for people in every place,
for men and women and children –
the gospel of love and grace.

Are you ashamed of the gospel,
or think that it is ‘absurd’?
True faith receives Christ, takes refuge.
Be wise and believe his Word!

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes, first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith. Romans 1:16,17
